Disney College Program Part 18

So today is my first day I travel on my way to Florida! It’s been a long day, and it’s only 3 pm. But it’s awesome to know that by this time tomorrow I’ll be checking into my hotel in Florida, and hopefully getting some wifi!

Today has been crazy. I found that with baggage, it’s cheaper to take a train than a plane, so I’m sitting in a pretty comfy seat, waiting to head out.

This morning I woke up at 5 to shower and make sure I was ready to go. We (my mum, step dad, and NatalieCaileen) were out of the house by 7:15, and on our way to the first train station. It’s about a 2.5 hour drive from where I live.

That first train took us down to New York City, where we walked from Grand Central Station to Penn Station. The walk is a little over a mile, and definitely not bad. Thankfully, my step dad did the most heavy lifting, so I had the lighter stuff.

Natalie was sleepy on the train.

When we got to Penn Station, we sat around an relaxed for a bit, then grabbed some lunch. Then we sat around a whole lot more, until I got antsy not knowing what to do. So we went and checked my luggage and then sat back down.

On Amtrak Trains, you’re allowed to have 2 carry ons, and 2 checked bags for free. You can pay to check 2 more bags, but it’s $20 a pop. I brought 3 to check and 2 carry ons. When they weighed my biggest suitcase, it was 49.5 lbs – almost over the limit! I breathed a sigh of relief when those were checked.

But there was still more waiting. See, the trains won’t tell you where you’ll be boarding until 10-15 minutes before they depart. That was really stressful for me because I can be so anal about things sometimes.

But I boarded and now I’m kicked back, relaxing, and heading to Disney! Later Fangirls!
